Safe storage of hazardous liquids: cabinets and containment sumps

Paints, solvents, oils, acids and pesticides on company premises must be kept under lock and key, separated by compatibility and above a sump that collects leaks. The Fami solutions in this category cover the three levels of the problem: the cabinet that stores the containers, the sump that collects spills from drums, and the kit that absorbs them when they happen.

Flammables and chemical cabinets

The flammables safety cabinets have a leak-proof spill sump, doors with a cylinder lock and adjustable shelves: the Linea 391 model has a 62-litre external sump and two independent compartments with double doors, from around €480. Perfom chemical cabinets have louvred doors, in sheet steel or transparent polycarbonate, for air circulation and visibility of the contents, 19-litre internal sumps and a load capacity of 1200 kg. Pesticides, jerry cans and PPE

The cabinets for pesticides, jerry cans and PPE are for farms, grounds maintenance contractors and cleaning companies: lockable cabinets with a slotted shelf and separators for jerry cans, and red cabinets for PPE and fire-fighting equipment, with louvred doors so the equipment can be found immediately in an emergency.

Containment sumps for drums and IBCs

Painted steel containment sumps collect leaks from 200-litre drums and IBC tanks: capacity from 200 to 1200 litres, load capacity from 400 to 3000 kg, with support combs and slats and fork pockets for moving them with a forklift. Versions are available with castors, with drum holders and with IBC frames. The sizing rule normally used is: the sump must hold at least the volume of the largest container and 10% of the total stored. Prices start from around €300.

Spill kits and absorbents

The spill kits and absorbents complete the emergency plan: kits in containers for oil, paints and water or for chemicals, absorbent pads and socks in packs, 4-metre rolls and 15 kg universal mineral granules for floors.

Where to install them

Cabinets and sumps must be positioned in a ventilated area, away from heat sources and floor drains, on a level surface: sumps with fork pockets are moved with a forklift when empty, not when fully loaded. Keep a spill kit and the products' safety data sheets close at hand, next to the storage point.
