Metal boxes: where plastic is not enough

Turned parts that are still hot, sharp edges, cutting oils, outdoor storage: cases where a polypropylene box deforms or gets cut. Fami metal boxes are made of painted sheet steel, stackable, in six sizes (from size 2 to size 5P4, plus the 272 series) with load capacity from 50 to 150 kg and capacity from 1 to 88 litres; the larger sizes have reinforced sides. Open front for picking or closed front for transport. Prices start from around €25.

The sheet-steel walls withstand the impact of parts thrown in at the end of a cycle, and the folded edges do not cut gloves; a dented box still stacks and keeps doing its job.

Dividers and supports

Longitudinal dividers and pairs of supports split the box for several part numbers; they are specific to each size and are ordered in this subcategory. For large-volume containers, see pallet boxes and skips.

Where they are used

On one-piece small parts shelving units with 16 or 20 metal containers, among the shelving units, on Clever trolleys and at the machine side. For light small parts, polypropylene open-fronted bins remain more practical.

Frequently asked questions

Do metal boxes stack?

Yes, boxes of the same size stack securely; those with an open front stay accessible even when stacked. The load capacity of each box, up to 150 kg, is on the product page.

Are they suitable for parts with cutting oil?

Yes, painted sheet steel resists oils and non-corrosive liquids and can be washed. Liquids that need to be collected require spill sumps instead, found in the safety and environment category.

What is the difference between size 4 and size 4A5?

Same base, different height: the A5 variant is taller and holds more (for example 300 mm instead of 200 mm in the 272 series). Exact dimensions and litres are on the product page for each size.
